Woodford

At woodford we are dedicated to providing stable, nurturing environments for children and young people who have experienced trauma. Using our psychosocial model, which integrates psychodynamic and systemic principles, we aim to help children recover from their past experiences and rebuild their self-esteem. Our approach focuses on creating therapeutic, calm, and consistent settings where children can form trusting relationships, reducing the risk of placement breakdowns. Our goal is to support the emotional and behavioural development of children in our care, fostering long-term positive outcomes for their future.
We strive to
Change the narrative in children’s social care and meet the needs of children who have suffered childhood trauma, abuse or neglect.
We aim to
Provide calm, consistent and reliable environments. Reduce placement breakdowns through thoughtful matching and trusting relationships.
We recognise that children in care can experience further trauma by way of:
Multiple placement breakdowns
Poor relationships with carers and professionals
Negative experiences of being in care
The lasting effects of this trauma can be damaging for children, resulting in feeling;
Rejected
Unloved
General feelings of being unwanted
These events can reinforce a traumatised child’s negative view of themselves and make recovery even harder. This is why here at Woodford we believe in firstly, doing no harm and where necessary protecting our children from the system that is supposed to protect them.
