Community Housing and Therapy (CHT) is a charity based in London and the South East that provides vital housing, support, and therapeutic services for those experiencing severe, complex and long-term mental health difficulties.
We use a distinct model of practice based on the principles of Therapeutic Communities and Psychologically Informed Environments that places co-production and relationships at the heart of the treatment.
CHT works with people who are experiencing high levels of mental distress including self-harm and suicidal preoccupations and who often lack independent living and social skills. Many of our residents have spent years in psychiatric hospitals before coming to us, yet the majority are still only in their 20’s.
Considered as both an alternative to hospital admission or the ‘next step’ after hospital, CHT’s residential therapeutic services focus on developing the practical and relational skills and confidence needed for independent living and enabling residents to take more control of their own lives.
