I am writing this on the way home from another very successful Windsor Conference. It is always enlivening and encouraging to meet up with people who share your values and ideas. This year has, I think, been a particularly good meeting.
Please note for your diaries that the dates for the Windsor Conference in 2010 are 14th - 17th September. Judging by the news today of all ministers being asked to propose spending cuts, we may well need the conference next year to help us through.
Meanwhile, I thought I should make sure you are up to date with some issues.
Executive membership. At the AGM we re-elected to the Executive Roland Woodward and Rex Haigh, who I am sure will continue to work as hard as ever for the ATC. We also welcomed to the Executive for the first time Michael Brookes and Peter Clarke. Sheila Gatis stepped down after several years of work on the Executive - and we thanked her for the work she had put in. Please have a look at the identities of the members of executive on the website, and make sure you let us know if there are issues we should be addressing on your behalf.
Constitution. Before the AGM you were sent details of a motion allowing us to move forward to prepare a new Constitution. This will tidy up our structures, and also would allow us to merge with the Charterhouse Group (CHG) - or, indeed, with any other like-minded charity. Although there was less time to discuss this than any of us intended, the motion was passed. I am sending it to you as an attachment to this letter so you can familiarise yourself both with what we are doing, and with the Charitable Objectives and Core Values for the proposed new Charity. The Core Values should be familiar, having been described through the CoC process - we all need to be using them to support our description and advocacy of TC's.
